Here’s a simple recipe for homemade pudding (vanilla or chocolate)! Do you prefer vanilla, chocolate, or a different flavor? Let me know if you'd like an alternative!

Ingredients
  • 2 cups milk (whole milk works best)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch (or ¼ cup flour for thicker pudding)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for vanilla pudding)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (optional for chocolate pudding)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for creaminess, optional)

Instructions

1. Combine Dry Ingredients:
  • In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cocoa powder (if making chocolate).
2. Add Milk Gradually:
  • Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
3. Cook Over Medium Heat:
  • Place the saucepan on medium heat. Continue whisking gently but constantly as the mixture heats up.
  • It will gradually thicken after about 5-7 minutes.
4. Remove & Add Vanilla:
  • Once the pudding is thick enough to coat a spoon, remove it from the heat.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract (and butter, if using) for extra creaminess.
5. Cool & Serve:
  • Pour the pudding into serving cups or bowls.
  • Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours.
Optional Toppings:
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Fresh fruit
  • Caramel or chocolate sauce
Enjoy your delicious pudding! Do you want a flavor variation or tips on adjusting the sweetness? 😊
