Making cinnamon rolls is a rewarding baking project that results in soft, fluffy, and delicious treats. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Ingredients

Dough:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm, around 110°F/45°C)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Filling:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or raisins
Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough

1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit
    for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine the flour, salt, eggs, melted butter, and the
yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead: Knead the dough by hand (8–10 minutes) or using a dough hook in a mixer (5–6 minutes)
    until smooth and elastic.
4. Let it Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a
warm place for about 1–2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a paste.

Step 3: Assemble the Rolls

1. Roll the dough out into a large rectangle (about 16x12 inches).
2. Spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges.
3. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other, forming a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
4. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces (use floss or a sharp knife).

Step 4: Second Rise

1. Arrange the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, leaving space between them.
2. Cover with a towel and let them rise for another 30–45 minutes, until puffed.

Step 5: Bake

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 6: Make the Frosting

1. Beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until smooth.
2. Add milk as needed for a spreadable consistency.

Step 7: Frost and Serve

1. Spread the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls.
2. Serve and enjoy!
